About The Position

The Behavioral Health Clinician is a key member of the therapeutic team at Cedar Knolls House, a group residence serving girls aged 16-21 with emotional and behavioral challenges stemming from trauma. The program provides supervised living, therapeutic, and recreational services aimed at strengthening community support and independent living skills, with a goal of transitioning youth back to the community within a year. The clinician is responsible for delivering culturally sensitive clinical interventions and collaborating with medical, milieu, psychiatric, and psychology staff to ensure appropriate evaluations and treatment for the youth.

Requirements

License Master’s in Social Work (LMSW), License Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT).
A minimum of one year of relevant experience with a similar population.
Valid Driver’s License required.
Knowledge of electronic Health record systems or CONNECTIONS preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook and Word.
Aptitude for learning new systems and application software.
Experience with documenting in electronic health records and using Microsoft Office software.

Nice To Haves

Spanish speaking a plus.
Experience with telemental health platforms a plus.

Responsibilities

Meet with assigned residents for weekly sessions.
Engage and remain in contact with parents.
Ensure home visits are conducted.
Ensure vocational/educational, psychiatric, and recreational services are provided.
Identify and provide access to specific concrete services and community resources.
Engage families in planning for services.
Advocate on behalf of residents with external resources such as mental health providers, treatment facilities, FCLS, and community members.
Provide individual, family, and group counseling on-site for young ladies aged 16-21.
Liaise between program staff, family court, ACS, case planners, youth's family members, and relevant community members.
Attend ACS and school conferences, as well as court hearings.
Participate in weekly team meetings and occasionally lead them.
Prepare integrative treatment plans based on assessments from other professionals.
Ensure follow-up from meetings as necessary.
Conduct meetings to ensure proper treatment, progress in the program, and coordination of goals.
Provide psychoeducation and intervention support to Direct Support Professionals.
Work with Direct Support Professionals to enhance communication and cooperation between them and consumer families.
Provide crisis intervention as needed.
Complete paperwork, including case notes, FASPs, PHRs, and court reports, in a timely manner.
Complete psychosocial assessments within the first 30 days of youth's admission.
Participate in audit preparation.
Other duties as assigned.
