About The Position

Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) is seeking a Behavioral Health Clinician to provide comprehensive behavioral health clinical tasks. This role involves conducting intake assessments, providing counseling with an emphasis on prevention and recovery, and working with individuals and groups to promote optimal mental health. The clinician will address complex and comorbid diagnoses, including serious persistent mental illness, addictions, substance abuse, family and relationship issues, stress management, and challenges related to aging and overall health. Requirements

  • Master’s degree (M.A., M.S.) in a Mental Health field
  • Must be licensed with either LPC/MHSP, LCSW, or LMFT in the state of TN
  • Valid Tennessee Driver’s License
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Acceptable Criminal Background Investigation

Responsibilities

  • Perform face-to-face intake for consumers referred to MHC and assess for care management, medication management, or therapy eligibility.
  • Complete all intake evaluation paperwork, including initial intake, grief assessments when needed, and any other necessary documentation.
  • Determine an individual’s appropriateness for care management, medication management, or therapy and assign them accordingly.
  • Refer consumers to appropriate agencies for other mental health services if they are ineligible for MHC's services.
  • Identify individuals in need of Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) services instead of a routine intake and facilitate crisis action if appropriate.
  • Assist in resolving any grievances received from a consumer regarding referrals.
  • Fill in for the Admissions Coordinator as directed by the supervisor.
  • Utilize the Intake Committee for consumers meeting criteria with a history of violence, sexual crimes, or serious criminal activity, writing completed intake reports for committee review and contacting consumers with the decision.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic frameworks to counsel consumers and patients individually and in group sessions to assist them in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes.
  • Guide consumers in developing skills and strategies for dealing with their problems using evidence-based modalities.
  • Encourage consumers to express their feelings and discuss their lives, helping them develop insight into themselves and their relationships.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
  • Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed to comply with changes in consumer status.
  • Stay updated on new developments in the field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, and maintaining contact with other social service agencies.
  • Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting consumers.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and consumers’ progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives.
  • Refer patients, consumers, or family members to community resources or specialists as necessary.
  • Meet with families, clinic providers, care managers, and other interested parties to exchange necessary information during the treatment process.
  • Collaborate with other staff members, primary care practice partners (including pediatricians, doctors, nurse practitioners, office staff), and referral sources as assigned to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
  • Meet productivity standards as indicated by department goals.
