About The Position

SummitStone Health Partners is seeking undergraduate-level Clinical Interns for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters. This internship provides pre-professional experience in a co-occurring behavioral health setting, offering rich experience with both mental health and substance use disorder treatment. Internships are unpaid and designed to meet field placement requirements for accredited graduate programs. The intern will provide assistance and guidance to adults with behavioral health disorders, primarily functioning as a Clubhouse generalist staff working in partnership with clubhouse members and staff in all areas of the Clubhouse program. Duties include both group and individual services through the coordination of activities and work tasks within the Clubhouse day program.

Requirements

  • Ability to recognize and interpret mental health and substance use symptoms (e.g., flat affect, psychomotor changes, pressured speech, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interpret professional literature and regulations
  • Solid critical thinking, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Facilitate group and individual program and personal work activity, goals, projects in partnership with Clubhouse members, staff, and community partners
  • Actively seeking at least one semester of field placement from a bachelor-level behavioral health program
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with providers, partners, and community agencies
  • Ability to maintain documentation that meets state, federal, and organizational standards
  • Ability to work with groups and individuals addressing personal daily living needs and goals
  • Current enrollment in an accredited BS/BA/BSW program with a behavioral health sciences specialty such as human services, social work or psychology
  • Attend a college or university that has an active articulation in place with SummitStone Health Partners
  • Each applicant is required to upload an essay (250-500 words) addressing one of the prompts below.
  • Essays will be evaluated for clinical insight, personal motivation, commitment to diversity, and readiness to work in a high-need environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with a variety of individuals
  • Advocate for individuals and the clubhouse program to the community at large for social and employment opportunities
  • Individual service may include goal setting, program planning, job coaching or supported education tutoring
  • Opportunity for on-going program evaluation to maintain program fidelity of Clubhouse Standards are offered
  • Documentation using electronic medical records system for group services and provision of basic case management services.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by your supervisor
