About The Position

Support the instruction of social/behavioral skills and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to elementary age students. The Behavioral Technician will collect data, assist with parent training, and directly implement behavior plans.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Degree with 60 hours college credit from an accredited college, or passing score on the ParaProfessional Exam.
  • Must meet Highly Qualified standards.
  • Must be RBT certified or willing to complete training for RBT certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as simple instructions, short correspondence and memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write and/or type routine reports and correspondences.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of district personnel or organizations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Application of percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required.
  • Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems.
  • Ability to quickly assess employee, departmental, and administrative needs and provide timely feedback.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff and district employees.
  • Ability to perform duties with a high level of detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group.
  • Must be able to drive a car to area schools.

Responsibilities

  • Implement specific behavior plans
  • Utilize reports and data effectively to improve behavioral aspects of students.
  • Collect data related to interventions applied and student responses
  • Prepare materials necessary and relevant for educational services
  • Attend in-service trainings, meetings, and conferences as requested
  • Assist with training newly hired technicians
  • Manage problem behaviors appropriately to ensure the safety of students and staff, including staying up-to-date with training for CPI and Ukeru and implementing the techniques appropriately
  • Support teachers, staff, and administrators in dealing with behavior issues
  • Provide training and support to general education teachers with transitioning students
  • Assists teachers with academic instruction and classroom activities; prepares and disseminates materials for classroom activities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform remedial instruction or tasks to reinforce learning initiated by teacher.
  • Effectively monitors groups of students engaged in academic or social skills work.
  • Demonstrates the ability to observe and assist individual students that are experiencing difficulties.
  • Effectively supervises playground activities, monitors students in the cafeteria, during rest periods, coming on and off buses, or as they go to and from classes.
  • Provides clerical support by performing such duties as light typing and data entry, routine sorting and filing, copying, and routine posting to ledgers.
  • Operates general office equipment such as a typewriter, computer, copier, laminator, and calculator.
  • Maintain and submit appropriate records in a timely manner as determined by school administration.
  • Engage the learners in differentiated learning experiences according to student needs.
  • Travel to Aiken County Elementary Schools upon request to provide interventions and supports to identified students.
  • Maintain positive, cooperative, and mutually supportive relationships with the administration, instructional staff, students, parents, and representatives of resource agencies within the community.
  • Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
  • Perform any other duties that are within the scope of employment and certifications, as assigned by administration and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
  • Follow contents of faculty and staff handbook and adhere to ACPSD Board Policies and employee guidelines.
