About The Position

The Elma School District is accepting applications for the classified position of Elma Middle School Behavior Tech Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. The person hired into this position will serve as a behavioral tech paraprofessional supporting students with behavioral needs based on their IEP, with supervision from school administration and Inclusive Education certificated staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Meets NCLB definition of highly qualified requirements: A two-year Associate degree, 72-quarter or 48-semester college credits, or Received a passing score on one of the assessments approved by the PESB
  • WSP/FBI fingerprint background clearance (fee paid by the employee)
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position
  • The safety and health of students and others is an essential function of this position

Nice To Haves

  • Work with students, as directed by the classroom teacher, BCBA, and building level administration, in the school setting to provide academic and behavioral support
  • Provide support during classroom activities and field trips
  • Safety Care trained, or able to complete Safety Care training upon hire
  • Follows the direction of the certificated teacher and BCBA
  • Able to support the meeting of IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a behavioral tech paraprofessional supporting students with behavioral needs based on their IEP.
  • Provide academic and behavioral support to students, as directed by the classroom teacher, BCBA, and building level administration, in the school setting.
  • Provide support during classroom activities and field trips.
  • Follow the direction of the certificated teacher and BCBA.
  • Support the meeting of IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Be a functional member of the building Inclusive Education team.
  • Seek out strategies to improve student interactions.
  • Maintain schedule.
  • Demonstrate reliability in demeanor, attendance, and collaboration.
  • Exhibit a positive and flexible attitude with students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Participate in the Fundamental Course Training to gain the necessary skills to perform this position.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate competence in basic academic/communication skills appropriate to site assignment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
