About The Position

The Elma School District is accepting applications for a temporary classified position as a Behavior Tech Paraprofessional at Elma Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. This role involves supporting students with behavioral needs as outlined in their IEP, under the supervision of school administration and Inclusive Education certificated staff. The position is temporary, covering a leave, and is expected to end upon the primary employee's return. The assignment is Monday through Friday, 6.5 hours per day.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Meets NCLB definition of highly qualified requirements: A two-year Associate degree, 72-quarter or 48-semester college credits, or Received a passing score on one of the assessments approved by the PESB.
  • WSP/FBI fingerprint background clearance (fee paid by the employee).
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • The safety and health of students and others is an essential function of this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Work with students, as directed by the classroom teacher, BCBA, and building level administration, in the school setting to provide academic and behavioral support.
  • Provide support during classroom activities and field trips.
  • Safety Care trained, or able to complete Safety Care training upon hire.
  • Follows the direction of the certificated teacher and BCBA.
  • Able to support the meeting of IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Functional member of the building Inclusive Education team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a behavioral tech paraprofessional supporting students with behavioral needs based on their IEP.
  • Provide academic and behavioral support to students, as directed by the classroom teacher, BCBA, and building level administration, in the school setting.
  • Provide support during classroom activities and field trips.
  • Follow the direction of the certificated teacher and BCBA.
  • Support the meeting of IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Function as a member of the building Inclusive Education team.
  • Seek out strategies to improve student interactions.
  • Maintain schedule.
  • Demonstrate reliability in demeanor, attendance, and collaboration.
  • Exhibit a positive and flexible attitude with students, staff, parents, and community members.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
