About The Position

The Behavior Support Specialist (BSS) will work with students at the Brandywine School who exhibit frequent challenging behaviors in an educational setting. This role involves providing behavior management support, implementing interventions developed by a Behavior Analyst, transferring skills to individuals' natural support systems in the least restrictive environment, and assisting teachers with classroom behavior management. The Brandywine School is located on the Devereux PA Children's Services campus in West Chester, PA, and serves children functioning at all grade levels using a multi-sensory educational strategy. The school focuses on transitioning students from school to career and equipping them with the necessary skills for success, aiming to help students return to their local schools and communities. Devereux's approved private schools offer high-quality, innovative special education programs in tandem with families and school districts. Each student has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) to guide their goals and strategies.

Requirements

  • Registered Behavior Technician certification or RBT eligible; required.
  • At least 1 year of work experience with children or adolescents with behavior challenges preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human service field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide behavior management support to individuals in a school setting.
