The Youth Tutoring Program (YTP) is an after-school educational enrichment program for first through twelfth-grade scholars who live in seven low- and mixed-income housing communities in Seattle. Started as a partnership with the Seattle Housing Authority in 1991, the tutoring centers provide youth with a safe, positive, and stimulating environment to explore learning and experience academic and personal success. The Youth Tutoring Program is seeking a Temporary Summer Behavior Support Specialist to support activities in an elementary school summer learning program schedule. The Behavior Support Specialist (BSS) will have a pivotal role in executing the Yesler Terrace Summer program. The BSS will primarily focus on implementing Social Emotional Learning sessions with individual scholars or small groups, and will be responsible for intervening, redirecting, and providing support to scholars facing behavioral challenges. Behavior management activities will encompass employing positive behavior interventions, facilitating conflict resolution, and being readily available to assist scholars as needed. Additionally, the BSS will handle administrative tasks such as communicating with families regarding absences and behavioral concerns, and monitoring and tracking attendance behavior. This role will also involve assisting the Center Supervisor in overseeing scholars during educational and enrichment activities, undertaking duties including the distribution of learning materials and supplies, and providing support to families with scheduling and other program-related queries. This position is temporary and will start on June 22nd and conclude on August 14th.
