About The Position

The Children’s Services of ACLD provides a continuum of services to children from ages three to twenty-one in their pre-school and after-school programs. We currently have an opportunity for a Behavior Support Specialist to join our Bay Shore facility. In this role, you will assist in the implementation of positive behavioral interventions, supports and services utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). ACLD was founded in 1957 by a group of families seeking services for their children with developmental disabilities. Today, ACLD is a prominent not-for-profit organization with over 1300 employees and more than 70 program sites across Nassau and Suffolk counties. ACLD supports children, teens, and adults in achieving the highest level of independence, empowering them to aspire higher in their hopes, dreams, and accomplishments. Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Three or more years’ experience providing services to children with Autism and/or developmental disabilities.
Must be physically able to handle all aspects of the supervision of the day-to-day activities of preschoolers which may include, but not limited to, running, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Basic Microsoft Office skills required.

Nice To Haves

some college and/or working towards certification as New York State Certified Behavior Analyst Assistant preferred
Experience assisting with the administration of Functional Behavioral Assessments preferred.
Bilingual preferred

Responsibilities

Implement discrete trial instruction and The Verbal Behavior Approach.
Collect data on skill acquisition programs and behavior intervention plans.
Implement prompts and prompt fading strategies.
Conduct preference assessments.
Implement generalization and maintenance procedures.
Carry out therapeutic regimens such as behavior modification plans, functional behavior assessments, and educational programs, incorporate skill acquisition programs aligned with student IEP goals during ABA sessions.
Implement functional communication training procedures.
Participate in team meetings and parent-teacher conferences to provide relevant information regarding students’ progress or problems and contribute to the development of goals and objectives.
Attend staff meetings, team meetings, in-service trainings and conferences to improve knowledge of special education and related fields.
Collaborate with academic and clinical staff to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program which fosters achievement for students with Autism.
