We are seeking motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented Behavior Intervention Specialists for our Residential program. Both part-time and full-time career opportunities are available.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • M.A. degree in Applied Psychology, from an accredited training program (including internship) e.g., school, clinical, counseling, and educational.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain goal plans specifically addressing behaviors of individuals served under the supervision of a licensed Psychologist.
  • Responsible for evaluation and testing of individuals served.
  • Responsible for training of staff members.
  • Evaluate each individual served based on the results of appropriate tests.
  • Administer appropriate tests on an annual basis to determine consumer's needs.
  • Complete and review a full assessment as part of the annual plan of care.
  • Perform triennial testing on all individuals served according to New York State guidelines for triennial intelligence testing to establish I.Q. score.
  • Participate in the development of written, detailed, specific, and individualized program plans designed to maximize each resident’s development and acquisition of skills in areas such as self-direction, emotional stability, and effective use of time.
  • Ensure the individualized plan of care is specific with measurable goals and objectives.
  • Detail therapeutic steps and assign staff responsibilities within the plan.
  • Set time frames for follow-up assessments of plan effectiveness for modification as required.
  • Evaluate each program in behavioral measurable terms at a minimum of monthly and quarterly.
  • Ensure goal plans meet state and federal guidelines/regulations.
  • Participate in weekly IDT meetings at each residence.
  • Participate in annual/interim meetings, special IDT meetings (as appropriate), and staff meetings.
  • Provide hands-on training to direct support staff.
  • Conduct on-site and agency in-service training to staff at the discretion of the residence manager.
  • Review all treatment plans.
  • Gain knowledge of and assist in implementation of all applicable ICF regulations.
  • Maintain contact with all psychological therapeutic personnel involved with the individuals, such as day programs.
  • Maintain contact with and provide behavioral information/feedback to the psychiatric services provider when applicable.
  • Perform duties under the direct supervision of the Psychology Supervisor and the QIDP.
