About The Position

Developing Scholars in East San José was started by families who wanted stronger academics and more support for their children. Alpha is a free, TK-12 public charter school system on a mission to prepare the next generation of leaders in East San José. Requirements

• High School Diploma
• AA/BA Degree OR completion of two years of college, not a degree but 72 quarter hours or 48 semester hours of college credit preferred
• High behavioral expectations and academic expectations for all students
• Excellent knowledge of child development and educational practices
• Experience working with students and classroom management
• Willingness to be flexible with your schedule
• A commitment to working with students in traditionally underserved communities. Approximately 80% of Alpha’s students are from under-resourced communities and will be the first in their families to go to college. The majority of our students are Latinx and/or Vietnamese.

Responsibilities

• Familiarize yourself with students’ behavior habits and known antecedents in order to provide proactive coaching and support prior to any behavior challenges arising
• Support class teams in implementing individual and classroom behavior structures, addressing off-task behaviors and acts of defiance
• Provide in the moment behavior support and coaching, and respond to crisis behavior as necessary
• Remove students for check-ins/resets
