About The Position

Alpha Public Schools is hiring a Behavior Paraprofessional to support students across its public charter school network in East San José. The role supports safe, inclusive, and student-centered learning environments and helps students access instruction by responding to behavioral and social-emotional needs. Successful team members believe all students can succeed, uphold high expectations, welcome coaching and feedback, and contribute to a vibrant school community that values students’ and families’ diverse experiences and cultures.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• High behavioral and academic expectations for all students.
• Excellent knowledge of child development and educational practices.
• Experience working with students and classroom management.
• Willingness to be flexible with the schedule.
• Commitment to working with students in traditionally underserved communities.

Nice To Haves

• AA/BA degree, or completion of two years of college without a degree, defined as 72 quarter hours or 48 semester hours of college credit.

Responsibilities

• Learn students’ behavior habits and known antecedents to provide proactive coaching and support before behavior challenges arise.
• Support class teams in implementing individual and classroom behavior structures.
• Address off-task behavior and acts of defiance.
• Provide in-the-moment behavior support and coaching, and respond to crisis behavior as necessary.
• Remove students for check-ins or resets.
