About The Position

Joplin Schools is seeking a Behavior Interventionist to assist in a special education classroom focused on Communication, Behavior, Social Skills (CBSS). This role involves working with students who exhibit significant behaviors or have autism. The district will provide extensive training. Responsibilities include one-on-one support, assisting with small group lessons, and collecting data on student programs. The Behavior Interventionist will collaborate closely with the classroom teacher, a behavior consultant, and a behavior technician on student goals, behavior intervention plans, and the implementation of daily schedules. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong communication skills, capable of assisting students with personal needs, working with nonverbal students, and learning Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques. Experience with students with Autism and positive behavioral support will be strongly considered.

Requirements

  • Must have 60 college hours or Have passed the Para Assessment (MEGA)
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to take care of personal needs of students
  • Ability to work with nonverbal students
  • Willingness to learn ABA applied behavior analysis techniques
