Our Behavior Interventionists impact students’ lives by implementing with fidelity the school discipline and behavioral support systems, collaborating with student support team members and teachers to help students maintain high behavior expectations, and working closely with the classroom teacher to support instruction for more than 50% of the workday. They build effective relationships with students and families and professionally communicate with families to encourage behavior changes at the school. They maintain a school culture conducive to raising student achievement including, but not limited to, monitoring behavior pull-out rooms, hallways, cafeteria, after-school detention, and recess. They collect and analyze behavioral data to inform discipline decisions and improve practice, provide supportive interventions to families and students, and after CPI training, implement de-escalation techniques when working with students in crisis. They respond with urgency to student support needs, transition disruptive students quickly and without escalation from the classroom, and monitor behavior pull-out rooms so students have a calm and orderly place to redirect themselves. They implement weekly feedback and goal-setting into daily practice, participate in daily, weekly, and quarterly meetings about student achievement, and participate in the life of the school, including student activities and events. They embody, advocate, and operationalize the mission, vision, and direction of the school, and take on other tasks as needed.
