About The Position

AHRC NYC is seeking a Behavioral Intervention Specialist (BIS) for their Queens Adult Day Services program. The BIS will be responsible for providing behavior support services, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment services as part of interdisciplinary teams. This role involves developing and implementing behavior support plans, monitoring data, training staff, and coordinating care with various stakeholders.

Requirements

Master’s degree in a clinical or treatment field of psychology.
Documented training in assessment techniques and behavioral support plan development.
At least 2 years of experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities (including creating, implementing, and monitoring behavioral support plans).
At least 2 years of experience providing supervision and training to others in the implementation of behavioral support plans.
Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated effectiveness in overseeing administrative tasks related to regulatory mandates and program service operations.
Proven capacity to work productively in highly collaborative settings and to coordinate the needs of multiple stakeholders.
Flexibility to operate in a rapidly-changing work environment, with the ability to adapt and be sensitive to organizational culture.
Committed and collegial team worker.

Responsibilities

Develop individualized behavior support plans and staff intervention plans after completing functional assessments, adhering to required formats for content and quality.
Implement and monitor effective behavioral data tracking systems.
Complete additional behavior health-related plans and documentation as needed.
Provide training to staff on behavior treatment plans and other behavioral health-related topics.
Complete assessments and psychological evaluations as needed.
Engage individuals in individual and/or group treatment as required.
Coordinate psychological care and behavioral programs with families, medical providers, residential settings, and other relevant stakeholders.
Provide crisis intervention and instruct staff in appropriate techniques for addressing challenging behaviors.
Attend interdisciplinary team meetings, providing input on individuals with identified or emerging behavioral challenges.
Accurately and timely maintain appropriate service records for individuals supported to ensure quality intervention and regulatory compliance.
Perform all duties necessary to ensure compliance with relevant regulations governing service provision, including record keeping.
Conduct other related tasks as needed or required.
