About The Position

This position is for a Behavior Health Technician at the SUDCOD Womens Residential facility in Dover, DE. The role is part-time and requires a High School Diploma/GED. The ideal candidate will have a desire and commitment to support individuals in their recovery goals, aiming for independence and community contribution. The position involves providing training and assistance in various areas, including health, community living, and personal/social skills, as well as performing documentation, medication monitoring, and crisis intervention.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • A desire and commitment to support persons served in their recovery goal of becoming independent and contributing members of the community is a must.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must present credentials that are current and valid and meet safe driving requirements.
  • Must submit to a driving record and criminal background screening.
  • Must be capable of satisfactorily performing all job functions and tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to maintain the highest level of ethical standards and professional relationships.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including an excellent command of the English language.
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle and tolerate exposure to all local weather conditions.
  • Required to sit, see, talk (close, distance, peripheral, depth, and focus) & hear (communicate effectively), use hands & fingers, handle objects, reach, kneel, crouch, or stoop.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds and negotiate multiple flights of stairs.
  • Must be capable of providing non-violent crisis intervention and performing CPR and first aid.
  • MUST HAVE A CLEAN VALID DRIVER LICENSE
  • MUST HAVE EXPIERENCE IN SUBSTANCE ABUSE

Responsibilities

  • Provide training/assistance in areas of Somatic/Mental Health: Nutrition, Personal Hygiene/Health, Exercise and Recreation, Relapse Issues in SMI/AOD
  • Provide training/assistance in areas of Community Living: Housekeeping, Money Management, Transportation Skills, Establishing a Routine
  • Provide training/assistance in areas of Personal and Social Skills: Boundaries, Interpersonal Relationships, Communication Skills, Personal Life Goals
  • Performs all required documentation
  • Performs Activities of Daily Living (ADL) management and supervision. May perform ADL functions where necessary.
  • Performs medication monitoring.
  • Assists persons served to become independent and to encourage efforts towards recovery /rehabilitation.
  • Responsible for vehicle and general cleanliness, as required.
  • Ensures compliance with treatment plan goals for the person served.
  • Performs crisis assessment, intervention, and management.
  • Performs and supports persons’ transportation activities and contacts in the community as scheduled.
  • Performs supportive counseling and documents accordingly.
  • Serves as a team member and provides support for the team and for persons.
  • Supervises and performs recreational/social activities and participates where appropriate.
  • Is responsible for and monitors persons’ safety.
  • Participates as part of a team, covers for other staff, and on-call as needed.
  • Maintains an attitude of cooperation, flexibility, and professionalism at all times.
  • Acts within time frames and at quality levels as expected or directed.
  • Adheres to all policy & procedures and codes of ethics expected of one in a professional position and is respectful and honest.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
