The Behavior Health Technician (BHT - formerly TSS) works in collaboration with a treatment team, including Mobile Therapists, Behavior Consultants, teachers, vocational training counselors, medical providers, and family members. Parent education and support are essential. Services are available in Allegheny, Butler, and Beaver counties. Both BHT and BHT-ABA positions are available. Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) provide behavioral health treatment to children up to age 21 who have a current mental health diagnosis and require behavioral support. The services use professional staff and natural supports to create a network of support around an identified child and their family. Services can be rendered in a child’s home, community, or school location, dependent upon the child and family’s needs. The BHT is a participating member of the child and family treatment team, coordinating efforts with other team members. They must be aware of all mental health and human service professionals involved with a child and family and be familiar with all services provided by these professionals. Communication with youth and family/foster family is key, offering honesty, respect, and a caring relationship. The BHT participates in program development, BHT meetings, and required training opportunities. They maintain open communication in supervision with the Lead Clinician and Clinical Supervisors/Director and complete and submit all paperwork in accordance with agency expectations. They implement specific interventions to assist the child in developing age-appropriate daily living skills and behavior repertoires and must meet agency productivity standards. The position requires a flexible schedule with opportunities for evenings and weekends if preferred and/or based on client need.
