About The Position

Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS) is a 501(c)(3) private not-for-profit organization operating with the purpose of promoting a high quality, comprehensive community mental health program in Vermont’s beautiful Northeast Kingdom. Our mission is to enrich communities and enhance the ability of individuals and families to improve their lives. NKHS is a Designated Agency contracted with the State of Vermont to provide the highest quality of service in the areas of adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, children and youth with serious emotional disabilities, and adults with mental health and substance use challenges. We serve the populations of Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties through a wide variety of targeted programs for individuals of all ages. NKHS has employees providing case management, community and home supports, residential care, psychiatry, medication management, therapy, vocational supports, school based counseling, emergency care, and respite services. These services are provided annually to nearly 4,000 of our local community members, helping them overcome challenges and achieve health in mind, body, and spirit.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Human Services or related field preferred.
  • Three years of experience working with children with behavioral challenges and developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of system of care, Applied Behavioral Analysis and trauma informed treatment a must.
  • Administrative and supervisory experience is also required.
  • BCBA or VT LBA preferred or working toward BCBA.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts functional assessments that meet state regulations and are built upon the concepts of positive behavior supports.
  • Develops behavior support plans and interaction guidelines that utilize ethical, proactive, person centered approaches and meets State standards.
  • Develops methods of tracking effectiveness of behavior support plans.
  • Provides the necessary training (New Employee Training, individual plans, etc) to enable employees to effectively use behavior support plans and interaction guidelines.
  • Regularly reviews and analyzes data and make changes to plans as necessary.
  • Conducts person centered planning meetings and interviews as needed.
  • Promotes self-advocacy and independence by encouraging each individual to identify his/her needs and preferences; and when necessary, provides advocacy on behalf of each individual to ensure appropriate treatment, training and protection of rights.
  • Provides clinical supervision to the Behavior Interventionists and the treatment team.
