About The Position
The Psychology Department at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center provides comprehensive behavior analysis and psychological services to residents. Services include behavioral assessment and treatment, staff training, and consultation. The department also offers clinical and management consultant services to external entities serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder. This position, once licensed as a Behavior Analyst, can operate independently. Otherwise, under the direction of a licensed psychologist, it provides assessment and treatment services to approximately 25 residents with significant intellectual and related developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include conducting behavior assessments, participating in interdisciplinary team processes, developing and evaluating treatment programs, and providing staff training. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a systematic approach to influencing socially important behavior by identifying environmental variables and using behavior change techniques. Behavior analysts examine how biological, pharmacological, and experiential factors influence behavior and support the interdisciplinary team in understanding these relationships. Licensed behavior analysts are qualified to address various resident needs, including organizational functioning, skill deficits, and problem behaviors like aggression and self-injurious behavior. They provide services consistent with ABA dimensions, which may involve functional behavior assessments, data collection and analysis, developing and revising behavior-analytic treatment plans, training others on treatment plan components, overseeing treatment plan implementation, direct service, staff training, and potentially supervising paraprofessionals.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Psychology or closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of the principles and practice of Applied Behavior Analysis.
- Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or in the process of becoming certified as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Responsibilities

- Training others to implement components of treatment plans
- Overseeing the implementation of treatment plans
- Providing direct service, staff training, and/or parent training
- Supervising paraprofessionals, including Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts, Behavioral Programming Specialists, and other ancillary service staff as assigned
- Participating with the Interdisciplinary Team
- Consultation with other Center staff
