Associated Students UCLA (ASUCLA) is a student-centered organization providing innovative and excellent services, programs, products, and facilities for the UCLA community. Established in 1919, ASUCLA has evolved into the largest student association in the country, comprising the Undergraduate Students Association, Graduate Students Association, Student Media, and Services & Enterprises. The Services & Enterprises division aims to meet the everyday needs of students and the campus community through various major divisions including the Student Union, Event Services, UCLA Restaurants, UCLA Store, UCLA Photography, and Trademarks & Licensing. Requirements

  • 2+ years of related management and/or buying experience in a high-volume retail environment that includes supervision.
  • Effective handling of multiple priorities and timelines.
  • Effective interface with diverse individuals/groups.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in performing work.
  • Proficiency with PC word processing/spreadsheet, retail computer systems, and reporting.
  • BA/BS degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Maintenance of a valid CA driver's license and good driving record.
  • Fingerprinting Background Verification required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development and inventory management of defined product assortments to achieve sales, gross margin, and contribution plans.
  • Selects products, plans assortments, negotiates with vendors, and develops marketing strategies.
  • Develops and maintains an email marketing calendar and fiscal controls in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Works with Outlying Store Managers to order and replenish apparel/gift merchandise for their stores.
  • Assists the E-Commerce department with building assets for the website.
  • Develops assortment and merchandise for LVC and HSS products at outlying stores and the UCLA Ackerman Store.
  • Supervises administrative activities that support department operations.
  • Administers the department's automated retail records systems, including processing purchase orders, chargebacks, price changes, and transfers.
  • Resolves discrepancies and problems related to retail records systems.
  • Monitors open-to-buy levels and coordinates co-op for catalogs.
  • Proficiently uses the warehouse management system.
  • Assists in coordinating Division programs and events.
  • Performs financial tracking and reconciliation.
  • Develops a database to manage product information for the web.
  • Interfaces with customers and vendors.
  • Performs reporting and analysis of Division activities.
  • Participates in taking, reconciling, and maintaining spreadsheets for physical inventory.
  • Develops and monitors office procedures and systems.
  • Oversees general office duties such as data entry, answering phones, greeting visitors, scheduling meetings, and ordering supplies.
  • Hires, schedules, trains, evaluates, and counsels student staff in all activities.
  • Assists in other areas of the Division, including concession and promotional events.
  • Performs special assignments.
