About The Position

This role involves ensuring a safe, welcoming, and professional environment within the campus natatorium. Student lifeguards serve as the first point of contact for visitors, enforce facility policies, provide accurate information, and represent the college with a positive and professional demeanor. Candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving, time management, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the pool area to ensure the safety of all patrons.
  • Perform rescues and administer first aid when necessary.
  • Maintain awareness of and follow the Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
  • Report any safety concerns or incidents to appropriate personnel.
  • Conduct routine checks of pool chemicals and equipment.
  • Ensure facility security, including locking doors when closed.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and general upkeep of the natatorium.
  • Communicate effectively with fellow lifeguards, Head Lifeguards, and the Natatorium Coordinator.
  • Foster a positive and respectful working environment.
  • Advise leadership on safety-related issues and concerns.
  • Model appropriate behavior and uphold college policies, state, and federal regulations.
  • Be assertive and assist in resolving conflicts when necessary.
  • Report violations of lifeguard protocols to the Natatorium Coordinator.
  • Remain approachable and available to patrons and staff.
