About The Position

The Beam Tufting Creeler Operator-3 position is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the warper, which includes creeling, starting, and ending beams. This role also requires the completion of necessary paperwork for each beam. The operator must maintain quality standards by checking yarn tension, color, and even warping. Additionally, the position involves mending yarn, handling end-breaks, and adhering to company policies regarding attendance and work schedules. The role also includes general housekeeping duties around the work area and ensuring personal and co-worker safety.

Requirements

  • Ability to zero the yardage and poundage meters.
  • Skill in pulling yarn ends and wrapping them around the beam.
  • Proficiency in operating the warper by pressing start buttons and centering the beam.
  • Ability to adjust the yardage meter for required poundage per beam.
  • Skill in taping yarn ends at the free rolling bar and securing them to the beam.
  • Ability to gather, tuck, and tie yarn ends.
  • Capability to check yarn tension and identify off-color yarn or incorrect lot numbers.
  • Skill in adjusting spacing guides and end cranks for even yarn warping.
  • Ability to locate and fix end-breaks at the beam and header.
  • Must be able to fill out paperwork legibly, including Beam Number/Start Yards, Stop Yards/Shift, Total Yards/Pounds, Warper Tender and Creelers names, date, and shift.
  • Must be able to record information on identification tags: Beam Number/Yards, Yarn Size/Type, Machine Number/Date, Warped By/Ends, Pounds/Lot Number, Gauge/Shift.
  • Must adhere to the Corporate Attendance Policy.
  • Must speak personally with Supervisor detailing reason for absence.
  • Must work all scheduled hours per shift.
  • Must be able to stand for at least 7 hours of an 8-hour work day.
  • Must be able to move heavy beams.
  • Must be able to read and write legibly.
  • Must have some basic math skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with scissors, snips, splicer, safety utility knife, cut glove, apron safety.

Responsibilities

  • Creel and start beams on the warper.
  • Monitor and adjust yarn tension and spacing for even warping.
  • Identify and mend yarn breaks or off-color yarn.
  • Properly end and doff beams, including taping and securing yarn ends.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately, including beam information, yards, pounds, and associate names.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment around the warper and creel.
  • Follow established attendance and work schedule policies, including working weekends and 12-hour shifts if required.
  • Ensure personal safety and the safety of others near machinery.
