About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Membership & Wellness Manager, the Beach Balance Assistant provides information to members and establishes the benefits of the Beach Balance Center. This role involves greeting and welcoming constituents, explaining program benefits, assisting with registrations for services like massage therapy, biofeedback assessment, and wellness coaching, and managing the daily operations of the Beach Balance Center.

Requirements

  • Experience in customer service
  • Effective organization and communication skills are desirable.
  • Concurrent enrollment in six or more units at CSULB.
  • Knowledge of recreation and wellness activities
  • Ability to connect well with constituents.
  • Willingness to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse group of student staff and volunteers.
  • Exceptional customer skills, dependability and punctuality are a must.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per week with the flexibility to cover up to 20 hours per week as needed.

  • Regularly required to talk and listen during interactions with students.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods and to use hands to take notes, operate a computer keyboard, etc.
  • Occasionally required to stand and to walk to various locations throughout campus.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and welcomes all constituents of the SRWC Beach Balance Center with courtesy and develops relationships that ensure member use and satisfaction.
  • Explain the benefits and assist constituents in registering for Beach Balance Center related programs by performing a variety of tasks including but not limited to program registration and promotion of massage therapy, biofeedback assessment and wellness coaching.
  • Assists with opening and closing of the Beach Balance Center.
  • Embodies ASI Recreation mission and demonstrates it on a daily basis.
  • Maintain calendar for the Beach Balance Center activities.
  • Answer phones, and assists with questions and concerns about the Beach Balance Center and all SRWC programs and features.
  • Respond to participant emails in a timely and professional manner.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and ongoing trainings.
  • Assists in office work (filing, faxing, photocopying, scanning etc.) as needed.
  • Assists with special projects (ideation, planning, and execution of programming) as needed.
