About The Position

The Beach Balance Lead will assist with the comprehensive program plan for Beach Balance Center. Including, but not limited to conducting biofeedback assessments, setting up massage therapy schedule, arranging for wellness coaches, and all other Beach Balance Center related programs. Specific duties will include all the responsibilities of the center: keeping track of records, designing new wellness programs, and assist in scheduling staff, and general support and assistance as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year of progressive experience in a university recreation or wellness center work environment.
  • Enrolled in at least six units and making satisfactory progress in related degree program at CSULB.
  • Strong student development knowledge and the ability to connect well with students.
  • Willingness to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse group of student staff and volunteers.
  • Willingness to research information and professional organizations.
  • Exceptional customer skills are a must.
  • Enhanced leadership skills and be able to work in a diverse environment.
  • Current California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record as determined by ASI.

Nice To Haves

  • Recreation, Kinesiology and Health Services majors are preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation, and retention of the student staff.
  • Serve as intermediary to the Wellness Manager and all Beach Balance student staff. Assists with supervision of Beach Balance student assistant employees.
  • Assist in management of all related Beach Balance Center operations, including developing, implementing, supervising and instructing programs, seminars/workshops and special events for both participants and staff.
  • Assist in development of promotional materials for recruiting, promoting and involvement in all related programs.
  • Embodies ASI Recreation’s mission and demonstrates it on a daily basis.
  • Assist in the research, purchase, and inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Hold monthly/semester meetings with student employees. Periodically directs training sessions for student employees.
  • Implement and maintain appropriate and approved policies, procedures, regulations, and rules regarding the Beach Balance program.
  • Represent the Beach Balance Center at campus events. Develop a collaborative relationship with numerous university departments and student organizations.
  • Develop survey instruments and maintain participation records to evaluate departmental progress.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Beach Balance Center related quarterly and annual reports.
  • Assist in the inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Works cooperatively with the student staff to plan and implement large scale programs and/or student training sessions as needed.
  • Transport program supplies from the SRWC to event venues using university vehicles, including ASI carts, as needed.
  • Serves as a committee member on ASI, University, and NIRSA committees as directed or approved.
