About The Position

Interstate Brick is widely recognized as one of the premier commercial brick manufacturers in the U.S. Established in 1891, Interstate Brick joined the Pacific Coast Building Products family in 1990. The company’s products, used in residential and commercial construction, offer several distinguishing features that motivate architects and builders across the country to specify them. Under the supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor, this position is responsible for installing, aligning, adjusting, maintaining, and changing dies used in the brick manufacturing process. This position ensures production equipment is properly configured to produce quality brick products that meet company specifications while maintaining safety, efficiency, and minimal downtime and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial production, or equipment setup preferred.
  • Fabrication and lathe mill experience
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to read technical drawings or specifications.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Knowledge of die setup procedures and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of quality control standards and dimensional tolerances.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, remove, and change brick extrusion or molding dies according to production schedules.
  • Set up and align dies to ensure proper dimensions, shape, and product quality.
  • Perform die adjustments during production runs to maintain product specifications.
  • Inspects dies for wear, damage, and performance issues.
  • Measure and verify brick dimensions using calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools.
  • Troubleshoot die-related production problems and make corrective adjustments.
  • Complete die changeovers safely and efficiently.
  • Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs of dies and related equipment.
  • Coordinate with production operators, maintenance personnel, and supervisors during setup and changeovers.
  • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and company policies.
  • Maintain product quality standards and dimensional accuracy.
  • Minimize production downtime related to die setup activities.
  • Record setup activities, maintenance performed, and quality checks.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to reduce setup time and increase manufacturing efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Abides by all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies; and ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
