The Battery Technician operates and maintains specialized manufacturing equipment that support pilot-line manufacturing activities. Executes electrode production processes and supports process optimization for quality, consistency, and repeatability. Conducts electrochemical testing, including cycling, formation, and diagnostics. Battery manufacturing and energy storage are becoming core capabilities for Alabama and the broader Southeast. The Alabama Mobility and Power Center (AMP) at The University of Alabama's Battery Research Center is designed to connect university research, industry-sponsored development, workforce training, and pilot-scale manufacturing. This position is central to applied research, prototyping, and scale-up work for next-generation battery technologies and sits at the intersection of battery manufacturing, electrochemical testing, and process development and support faculty, students, and industry partners in a fast-paced, innovation-driven research environment. Supports operations of its pouch cell pilot manufacturing line within the Battery Research Center. Ensures that AMP can safely and reliably produce, test, and improve pouch cell technologies while supporting the technical talent pipeline needed by industry.
