The Battery Lab Test Systems Engineer is part of General Motors’ Lab System Integration Engineering (LSIE) group, a central engineering resource supporting battery, component, and propulsion test laboratories and vehicle garages. The role directly supports the Global Battery Systems Lab (GBSL), Wallace Battery Cell Innovation Center (WBCIC), and Root Cause Warranty Center (RWC) at the Warren Technical Center in Michigan, focusing on software environments and automation platforms that enable safe and efficient testing. The engineer manages the software ecosystem across these labs, including test cell workstation builds and configurations, LSIE’s test automation toolchain, operational applications, the Influx/Telegraf/Grafana metrics stack, Databricks interfaces for lab data pipelines, and Windows-based environments for critical test PCs. The role uses enterprise automation tools such as Ansible and Baramundi to provision test systems, manage fleets, deploy software, coordinate environment changes, maintain configuration and change records, and standardize use of enterprise toolchains. The engineer designs and standardizes back-end environments, deployment pipelines, Windows test-fleet automation, and metrics pipelines, connecting enterprise platforms to laboratory operations. This is an onsite position at the Warren Technical Center, with direct engagement in lab operations, test systems, and partner teams. Weekend or off-shift support may be needed for planned changes and high-priority software issues.
