About The Position

We are seeking a Battery Engineer I to join our growing Battery division. This is an entry-level role designed for engineers early in their careers who are eager to develop hands-on experience in battery testing, validation, and qualification. In this role, you will support cell, module, and pack-level testing activities, assist in product validation efforts, and contribute to the development of safe and reliable battery systems for industrial applications. You will work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams while gaining exposure to industry standards, test methods, and battery system behavior.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience (internships, co-ops, or academic lab work acceptable).
  • Basic understanding of battery fundamentals (capacity, voltage, resistance, SOC).
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and data collection.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a hands-on lab environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; exposure to Python or MATLAB is a plus
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with ability to convey technical information clearly
  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn, including self-driven research and problem-solving
  • Positive, hands-on mindset with a proactive approach to challenges

Nice To Haves

  • Internship or academic experience with battery testing or electrochemical systems.
  • Exposure to battery cyclers, environmental chambers, or DAQ systems.
  • Familiarity with basic safety or certification standards (UL/IEC/UN) is a plus.
  • Experience with simple data analysis or scripting.

Responsibilities

  • Support execution of test plans for Li-ion and advanced chemistry cells (e.g., LFP, NMC, Na-ion).
  • Assist in performing galvanostatic and basic cycling tests under guidance.
  • Operate battery cyclers (e.g., Arbin, PEC) and environmental chambers.
  • Collect and organize test data related to capacity, resistance, and performance.
  • Assist in setting up test fixtures and maintaining lab equipment.
  • Assist in conducting module and pack-level tests (thermal, electrical, and basic mechanical).
  • Support prototype validation activities and document test results.
  • Provide input and observations to senior engineers for design improvements.
  • Support execution of production and validation tests for battery packs.
  • Assist in basic failure analysis and troubleshooting under supervision.
  • Help document test procedures and standard operating practices.
  • Gain familiarity with standards such as UL 2580, IEC 62619, and UN 38.3.
  • Support preparation of test samples and documentation for certification activities.
  • Assist in executing standard compliance-related tests.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment and test setups.
  • Organize and store test data in a structured and traceable manner.
  • Support basic data analysis using Excel, Python, or similar tools.
  • Work with R&D, systems, and manufacturing teams to support test activities.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to technical discussions.
  • Support documentation for validation and development efforts.
