About The Position

This position is responsible for constant monitoring of the batter system. It requires the ability to operate and troubleshoot the batter equipment. This position is also responsible for maintaining the flume additives and for monitoring the starch slurry system. Batter Operators may be qualified in another position of equal or greater pay from current full-time position when batter operations are not running. Other position to be qualified in will be at the discretion of management based on plant needs and openings.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Lock-out/Tag-out, Forklift, and Sanitation certification are required. If you are not qualified, you will be trained and must meet certification requirements.
• Experience driving forklift in warehouse or manufacturing establishment preferred.
• Must be able to be qualified within time frames established by facility.
• Ability to perform basic math functions, required.
• Basic computer operation knowledge, data entry skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
• Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing.
• Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in English, both written and oral.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
• Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for job actions and procedures.
• Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment.
• Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties.
• Ability to operate work related equipment.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• May have to sample food while evaluating Lamb Weston products.
• Climbing to various heights via stairs or ladders on a regular basis.

• Experience driving forklift in warehouse or manufacturing establishment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand how to look up QA Specifications for batter.
• Understand product codes and labels on batter tickets and how to use manifest to track inventory.
• Safely open, handle and hang batter bags.
• Maintain dry batter hopper and auger levels as needed.
• Assemble/Disassemble batter equipment when needed.
• Maintain expected level of sanitation in work area.
• Fill out paperwork as required.
• Have a good understanding of chemicals and the hazards associated with the processing area.
• Perform assigned duties during cut changes and defrost as required.
• Clean under and around batter mix areas, and additive areas.
• Willing to learn additional Operator roles, in addition to job responsibilities for breaking purposes. Example: Fryer Operator.
• Ability to use computer to enter checks with Military time.
• Ability to operate various tools and equipment, including but not limited to: high pressure hose, flash lights, hot hose, shovels, scrapers, foaming system, brooms, squeegees, telephones, ladders (roll around stairs), buckets, control panels/terminals, stein cups, stop watches and waste carts.
• Monitor and control the amount of dextrose and salt added to the flume water supply tank to attain target color and salt content in the finished product.
• Monitor and adjust sugar mix tank concentration and starch baume and levels as required.
• Start-up, shut-down and control starch recovery system in such a manner to maintain quality level and maximize recovery.
• Maintain efficiency of starch recovery system.
• Perform assigned duties during cut changes.
• Be able to qualify in another position of equal to or greater pay from current full-time position and work in such capacity, when not needed as a Batter Operator.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
