About The Position

The Baseball/Softball Umpire will be responsible for umpiring baseball games, keeping score, and assisting in game administration. This role also involves supporting office staff as needed and performing other related duties. The position requires knowledge of baseball rules and the ability to administer them, along with physical capability to perform the job duties. Effective communication and conflict resolution skills are essential for interacting with supervisors, colleagues, and the public, as well as for managing teams, coaches, and players.

• Physical ability needed to perform the duties of the job
• Ability to resolve conflicts
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, other employees, and the general public about softball/baseball
• Ability to maintain control of the teams, coaches, and players

Nice To Haves

• Previous baseball or softball experience as a player, coach, or umpire

Responsibilities

• Umpire baseball games
• Keep score
• Assist in the administration of games
• Assist office staff as needed
• Perform other related duties as required
• Attend paid umpire training clinics
• Learn and administer the rules of baseball and softball
• Arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled game time, dressed and ready to start games on time
• Wear appropriate clothing & protective gear as applicable
• Establish positive and appropriate communication with coaches and players
• Be consistent, fair, and firm in calls made
• Be available for evening and weekend games
