About The Position

As the Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician Helper, you will assist with mounting devices, installing conduit, pulling low voltage, and assisting our technicians on commercial HVAC controls projects. This role assists in ensuring BAS platforms operate safely and efficiently to monitor and control HVAC, ventilation, lighting, and other building systems—while delivering a professional customer experience and accurate project documentation. Compensation aspects of the role are dependent upon knowledge, skills and experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Hands‑on experience with BAS installation, checkout, and service (DDC controls, low‑voltage wiring, device calibration) is a plus.
  • Strong time management; able to work independently or as part of a team; clear written/verbal communication with customers.
  • OSHA 10 hour preferred.
  • Ability to work in various field conditions (heights, mechanical rooms, industrial environments)
  • Basic hand tool proficiency
  • Willingness to learn and take direction
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail
  • Initiative; self-motivated (driven), self-starter.
  • Excellent communication and customer services skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, possesses teaching and coaching skills
  • Professional demeanor and positive, caring attitude.
  • Ability to stand, squat, bend, stoop and comfortably lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to pass a full background screening and drug screening
  • Ability to pass MVR check (if applicable) or must have reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a physical ability test
  • Ability to travel, as needed, for projects

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation of BAS controllers, sensors, actuators, and field devices
  • Pull and terminate low-voltage wiring for controls systems
  • Mount and wire panels, VAV boxes, and other field equipment under supervision
  • Support senior technicians during startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite
  • Read and interpret basic wiring diagrams and installation drawings
  • Follow site-specific safety procedures, including PPE requirements on industrial and commercial job sites
  • Learn the fundamentals of HVAC systems, controls sequences, and BAS front-end software over time.
  • Perform other related duties or special projects, as assigned
