BAS Controls Technician
About The Position
This role involves installing, starting up, testing, and servicing Building Automation Systems (BAS). Responsibilities will vary based on experience and technical level. The technician will assist with or independently perform DDC system commissioning, troubleshoot HVAC controls, sensors, controllers, and related equipment. Reading wiring diagrams, control drawings, mechanical plans, and project documentation is essential. Tasks also include downloading, configuring, and updating controller software, testing, calibrating, and adjusting building automation equipment, and verifying system operation according to project requirements and control sequences. Creating or modifying BAS graphics, databases, and controller configurations, documenting completed work, system changes, and commissioning results, and communicating project progress, field conditions, and technical concerns are also key aspects of the role.
Requirements
- Independent BAS or DDC installation
- BAS programming and sequence development
- System commissioning and functional testing
- Advanced HVAC controls troubleshooting
- BACnet, Modbus or LonWorks
- Niagara or Tridium
- Distech Controls
- Siemens or comparable BAS platforms
- Front-end graphics development
- Controller and database configuration
- Commercial chillers, boilers, air handlers and VAV systems
- IP networking and system integration
