About The Position

Wenatchee Valley College seeks an innovative full-time non-tenure track Instructor to aid in the planning, development, curriculum creation, and oversight of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Behavioral Health. The Bachelor of Applied Science in Behavioral Health will be offered as a consortium in partnership with Big Bend Community College (BBCC). WVC and BBCC are innovative and equity-focused colleges, dedicated to helping students achieve their academic and professional goals. All applicants must be able to exhibit a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of WVC and BBCC students, faculty, and staff. The applicant must be able to develop equity-minded practices within an educational environment. In addition, other responsibilities include research and development for the program. The position also includes curriculum development, scheduled office hours, participation in department meetings, college committees and task groups, assessment of learning outcomes, advising of students for degree and career success, and other related duties as assigned by the administration. This is an in-person position that is expected to have consistent campus presence.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health or related field.
  • Licensed mental health professional.
  • At least four years providing mental health services.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement curriculum and deliver instruction in multiple modes of instruction (online, hybrid, and face-to-face).

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health or related field.
  • Two or more years demonstrated teaching experience at the university or community/technical college level.
  • At least years of experience providing mental health services in clinical settings.
  • Experienced in writing and assessing student learning outcomes and the ability to apply the results of assessment to improving course/program content and delivery.
  • Understanding of the correction and legal system.
  • Ability to teach in e-learning modes including pure online delivery, hybrid and telecourses, and ability to enhance traditional classes with interactive television, multimedia presentations and Internet resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse students with a wide range of skills and abilities.
  • Demonstrated dedication to student success.
  • Experience in curriculum design and student outcome assessment.
  • Successful post-secondary teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge and/or experiences in behavioral healthcare, social work, counseling psychology, psychology, or addition studies.
  • Adult teaching and learning models and practices.
  • Responsive customer service for a culturally diverse population
  • Teach behavioral health courses in a variety of modalities (hybrid, online) utilizing technological tools and adult learning methods.
  • Coordinate instructional efforts with other faculty, institutions and organizations.
  • Continually upgrade knowledge and skills to maintain relevant curriculum.
  • Act as liaison and build strong partnerships with behavioral health industry, advisory committee and instruction.
  • Coordinate the internal and external approval processes for additional offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with college and state policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Facilitate positive and consistent interaction with numerous campus instructional and administrative departments.
  • Provide learning activities and appropriate evaluation of student progress toward attaining the learning outcomes and abilities set by the department and the college.
  • Work successfully with students with academic difficulties to develop college level skills.
  • Interface with other higher education institutions to partner in collaborative offerings.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty and administration.
  • Participate in student advising, campus committee work, advisory boards, course and curriculum planning, department meetings, and other assigned duties.
  • Perform as an academic mentor and counselor to students.
  • Participate in program recruitment, connections with K-12 and CTE dual credit for articulations for program pathways.
