About The Position

Mixes and serves alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks to patrons of Sulky's Restaurant. This role involves taking orders, managing inventory, preparing drinks, collecting payments, and maintaining a clean and attractive bar area. The bartender is responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction through excellent service and a fun, engaging environment.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Proficient in English verbal and written.
  • High School Diploma/ GED or one to three months related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have an outgoing, energetic, and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Must be comfortable initiating conversations and creating a fun environment for guests.
  • Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays if applicable.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, reach, and kneel repetitively.
  • Specific vision abilities such as close, distance, color, depth and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ascend and descend stairs and maintain equilibrium for an extended period.
  • Must be able to work from a standing position and/or walking motion for extended period.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before a group of customers or employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Promote a positive influence in the company and company sponsored events.
  • Maintain a professional work environment with management and staff.
  • Must have a valid liquor license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a license from the Indiana Horse Racing Commission.

Responsibilities

  • Takes orders from customers or server.
  • Inventories supplies at beginning and end of shift.
  • Mixes ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
  • Serves wine and draft or bottled beer.
  • Collects money for drinks served.
  • Orders or requisitions liquors and supplies.
  • Arranges bottles and glasses to make an attractive display.
  • Slices and pits fruit for garnishing drinks.
  • Prepares all daily paperwork at the end of the shift.
  • Replenishes bar snacks such as chips, pretzels, and nuts.
  • Follows prescribed sanitary safeguards in handling all food and cleaning all surfaces.
  • Abides by all safety requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
