About The Position

This role involves providing excellent service to guests at the bar and restaurant. Key responsibilities include learning guest preferences, maintaining station cleanliness, understanding menu items, accurately taking and serving orders, managing bar costs, adhering to alcohol service regulations, and answering guest inquiries. The bartender will also be responsible for handling payments and reporting, and maintaining awareness of hotel functions and special events.

Requirements

  • Bar experience with beer, wine, and liquor.
  • Knowledge of dietary restrictions.
  • Experience with Micros POS system.
  • Ability to learn guest names and remember regular guests' favorite drinks.
  • Ability to inspect restaurant and stations before, during, and after shift for proper set-up, side work, and cleanliness.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with respect to set-up, side work, and breakdown of restaurant and stations.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation procedures at all times.
  • Ability to maintain communication with Chef and understand menu items, including changes during service.
  • Ability to convey any special requests to Chef and Manager.
  • Knowledge of all menu items, garnish, contents, and preparation methods of Restaurant and Bar.
  • Ability to answer guest questions about the menu directly and concisely.
  • Ability to accurately take food and beverage orders.
  • Ability to utilize suggestive selling techniques.
  • Ability to input orders into the POS computer system.
  • Ability to promptly place orders with the bartender and/or kitchen.
  • Ability to explain specific guest requests.
  • Ability to compile orders, including proper garnishes, side orders, and condiments.
  • Ability to deliver and serve orders to guests.
  • Ability to replenish beverages and clear tables as guests finish drinks and/or meals.
  • Ability to regularly check back with guests.
  • Ability to anticipate guest needs and promptly act to resolve any problems or guest complaints.
  • Ability to apprise management of all guest complaints and operational problems, even those that have been resolved.
  • Ability to serve food and beverages in accordance with established techniques for quality service, appearance, temperature, and portions.
  • Ability to carry trays containing food, beverages, coffee pots, pitchers of beverages, and service ware carefully through crowded areas.
  • Responsibility for profitable bar cost by accurate measurement of product.
  • Ability to measure all drinks properly using a jigger; no free pouring.
  • Ability to promptly present checks to guests.
  • Understanding and adherence to all cash, credit, guest check, and tip reporting procedures.
  • Adherence to all regulations concerning the handling, storage, and service of alcoholic beverages.
  • Ability to answer the telephone and answer caller questions.
  • Strong knowledge of alcoholic beverages, service standards, and etiquette.
  • Knowledge of service ware and food and beverage equipment used in the preparation of beverages and side dishes.
  • Ability to control the operation of their station.
  • Ability to ensure proper execution of service between team members.
  • Awareness of hotel functions and special events.
  • Ability to help maintain the cleanliness of the restaurant/bar.
