About The Position

The Westin Tempe is seeking a Part-Time Bartender for Sushi by Bou to join their team. This role involves servicing guests around the hotel and delivering exceptional service in a friendly, courteous, timely, and professional manner to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction. The Bartender will create a welcoming and memorable guest experience by preparing and serving beverages promptly and courteously in a fast-paced, upscale setting, while consistently maintaining the standards of excellence set by Sushi by Bou, Crescent Hotels & Resorts, and Marriott International. Requirements

  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Ability to communicate well with guests.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
  • Sufficient strength to lift, load, and transport product weighing up to 50 lb. from storage facility to bar.
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check.
  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers and patrons.
  • Previous experience required including cash handling and customer service.
  • Proven bartending experience, preferably in fine dining or upscale hospitality.
  • Knowledge of cocktails, wine, and spirits, with the ability to make recommendations.
  • Ability to obtain both Maricopa Health Card (Food Handlers Card) and Alcohol Certificate.

  • Be adaptable to change in work area and hotel procedures with a willingness to learn new skills and/or improve existing ones.
  • Solve routine problems that occur on the job and ask for help whenever unsure how to do something.
  • Adhere to hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting heavy objects, using chemicals, and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns.
