About The Position

The Bartender is responsible for maintaining the bar setup, stocking, preparing garnishes, greeting guests, taking orders, mixing and serving drinks, handling payments, and ensuring proper liquor controls. This role also involves maintaining a professional appearance, providing excellent customer service, and adhering to safety and security procedures.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other chargers, and understand portion sizes.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in hands to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
  • Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check.
  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.
  • Remain professional at all times.
  • Treat all guests and associates with courtesy and respect.
  • Adhere to hotel security policies and procedures, particularly key controls, lifting heavy boxes, using chemicals, and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis.
  • Requisition and stock beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, and produce.
  • Prepare, cut, and store all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily.
  • Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Promote and document orders for drinks.
  • Mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
  • Abide by all state, federal, and corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Ensure proper liquor controls are in place.
  • Input orders into a register at point of sale and create a check for each guest.
  • Receive cash from guests, make change, verify charges, record charges, and ensure vouchers are properly executed.
  • Comply with all PM Hotel Group policies and procedures regarding cash handling.
  • Lock up and store all beverage, food, and other equipment items; deposit cash drops and secure bank.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
