About The Position

The Bartender is responsible for maintaining the bar set-up, preparing and serving drinks, handling guest orders and payments, and ensuring a positive guest experience. This role requires adherence to service standards, safety regulations, and cash handling procedures.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate in English.

  • Ability to communicate well with guests.
  • Willingness to assist co-workers and be a team player.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
  • Basic mathematical skills for cash register operation, making change, totaling checks, counting bank, preparing cash drops, and understanding portion sizes.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in hands to use a knife for garnish, handle glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead for stock.
  • Ability to remember, recite, and promote menu items.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard and point-of-sale procedures.
  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.
  • Adherence to hotel security policies and procedures, including key controls, lifting heavy boxes, using chemicals, and reporting safety hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis, including requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce.
  • Maintain stock, cut, and store all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily.
  • Greet guests courteously, promote and document drink orders, and mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard recipes and portion control.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages in compliance with all state, federal, and corporate requirements, and ensure proper liquor controls are in place.
  • Input orders into a point-of-sale system and create checks for guests.
  • Receive cash, make change, verify charges, record charges, and ensure vouchers are properly executed to balance monies.
  • Comply with PM Hotel Group policies regarding cash handling.
  • Lock up and store beverage, food, and equipment items; deposit cash drops and secure the bank.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
