About The Position

The Bartender prepares and serves beverages to guests in the bar area in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner. This role adheres to all liquor regulations, sets up and stocks assigned bars, and ensures product quality through proper preparation and storage of garnishes and other perishables. The Bartender greets guests, takes orders, mixes drinks according to standard recipes, and practices portion control. They also check guest identification, manage guest inebriation, handle cash transactions, and secure all beverage products, equipment, and cash drops. Additionally, the role involves performing general cleaning tasks to maintain health and safety standards, arranging the bar display, washing stemware, and undertaking other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Must be able to adhere to state, federal and corporate liquor regulations.
  • Must be able to stock bars with beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice, and produce.
  • Must be able to prepare, cure, and store garnishes, juices, and other perishables.
  • Must be able to greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Must be able to take and process drink orders.
  • Must be able to mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard recipes.
  • Must be able to practice prudent portion control.
  • Must be able to check guest identification.
  • Must be able to detect and act upon guest inebriation.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of liquor laws.
  • Must be able to receive cash, make change, verify charges, record charges, and ensure vouchers are properly executed.
  • Must be able to lock up and store beverage product, food, equipment, deposits, and cash drops.
  • Must be able to perform general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Must be able to keep work area clean and organized.
  • Must be able to arrange bottles and glasses for display.
  • Must be able to wash and sterilize stemware.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
  • Sets up assigned bars; requisitions and stocks all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce.
  • Maintains stock, prepares, cures and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables to ensure product quality.
  • Greets guests in a courteous, friendly manner.
  • Takes and/or processes orders for drinks; mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes; practices prudent portion control.
  • Checks guests at the bar for proper identification.
  • Detects and acts upon guest inebriation as trained. Demonstrates knowledge of liquor laws.
  • Receives cash from guests, makes change, verifies validity of charges, records charges and ensures vouchers are properly executed.
  • Locks up and stores all beverage product, food, equipment items, deposits and cash drops; secures bank.
  • Performs general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards; keeps work area clean and organized.
  • Arranges bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in the bar area.
  • Washes and sterilizes stemware.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
