Oxford Suites Bellingham is seeking applicants for our bartending position. Friday and Saturday evening availability is required for consideration. This is an evening position, with shifts typically scheduled from 4 pm - close. Requirements

  • Friday and Saturday evening availability is required.
  • Food handler’s license and liquor server permits as required by state law (or ability to obtain).
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds occasionally and often exert up to 20 pounds of force to push, pull, carry, lift or otherwise move objects.
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis.
  • While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat).
  • Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside in a variety of weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Hospitality / hotel work experience preferred.
  • Previous bartending experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Providing exceptional beverage service and light hors d’oeuvres to guests at the Oxford Collection of Hotels’ evening reception or restaurant.
  • Ensuring a welcoming and engaging atmosphere, offering personalized drink recommendations, crafting high-quality beverages, and delivering prompt, attentive service.
  • Maintaining bar cleanliness, ensuring proper stock levels, and upholding all sanitation and alcohol service regulations.
  • Checking the identification of all guests who appear to be under 26 years of age.
  • Maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to ensure product quality.
  • Inputting orders into a register at the point of sale and creating a check for each guest, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served.
  • Receiving cash from guests, making any change needed, verifying validity of charges, recording charges, and ensuring vouchers are properly executed, in order to balance all moneys.
  • Locking up and storing all beverage, food and other equipment items, depositing cash drops and securing bank.
  • Displaying knowledge of liquor laws, maintaining attractive presentation and sanitizing all areas at least once daily, making suggestions for the reception and drink menus.
  • Bussing and cleaning tables after guest use.
  • Performing all tasks in compliance with federal, state, local, food safety and sanitation requirements and Oxford Collection of hotels safety standards and security procedures.
  • Being knowledgeable about and able to respond to emergency situations.
  • Reporting any maintenance repairs needed immediately to their supervisor or General Manager.
  • Greeting guests in a courteous and friendly manner as they enter the lounge, exchanging their beverage voucher for a beverage as needed.
  • Identifying issues and resolving guest issues.
  • Detecting and acting on customer inebriation, as trained.
  • Maintaining integrity, confidentiality, and sensitivity when working with both internal and external guests.
  • Communicating effectively with all hotel staff to ensure smooth delivery of services.
  • Completing a daily activity log with pertinent shift information for co-workers and leadership team.
  • Obtaining sales leads for the sales department.
  • Coordinating with front desk, maintenance staff, Food and Beverage Manager and General Manager on things requiring attention.
  • Adhering to attendance policies and maintaining regular availability for scheduled shifts.
  • Performing other hotel-related duties as assigned.
