About The Position

We are looking for an enthusiastic Bartender to provide an excellent guest drinking experience at our exciting new location in downtown Louisville! Must be able to prepare classic and innovative drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) to meet customer needs and expectations. A friendly personality and outstanding customer service skills are a must as this is a terrific opportunity to break into the Kentucky Bourbon industry.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must have active listening and effective communication skills, with experience in public speaking a plus.
  • Must have positive interpersonal skills.
  • Must be an exceptional communicator.
  • Will have knowledge of principles for providing outstanding customer service.
  • Must enjoy working within a team environment, but also be a self-starter.
  • Will have a high school diploma and recognized formal certified training program, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Will have flexible availability.
  • Has at least 2 years of experience as a bartender.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with opening and closing duties such as restocking the bar with garnishes, straws, napkins, and ensuring that Bartenders have clean towels, glassware, etc.
  • Ensure the bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer.
  • Check taps and appliances to confirm that they are working properly.
  • Keeping the bar clean by wiping down surfaces, sweeping, mopping, removing soiled glassware, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash receptacles.
  • Provide an exceptional guest experience and connect with visitors through education, conversation, and bar menu selections.
  • Pour samples and discuss products in retail locations.
  • Taste and evaluate cocktails before serving.
  • Garnish Preparation – to include washing, slicing, pitting, and preparing fruits and other garnishes such as lemons, limes, cherries, and olives to ensure they are fresh and ready for use.
  • Syrup & Infusion Production: Making house-made syrups, infusions, and other modifiers according to specific recipes.
  • Cocktail Component Batching: Preparing batched cocktail components or pre-mixed ingredients according to precise recipes to streamline service, especially during high-volume periods.
  • Set up and work any auxiliary bars.
  • The willingness to learn how to open and close the bar.
  • Strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors and driving while under the influence.
  • Maintain the highest health standards, sanitation, and cleanliness in the beverage/bar area to meet local, state and government guidelines.
  • Taking orders, preparing drinks, bussing tables, and opening tabs.
  • Will have access to the safe and responsible for processing cash and credit card payments from customers.
  • Availability to work private events occurring off-schedule.
  • Must be willing to learn about the Bardstown Bourbon Company whiskey library and vintage spirits’ library.
  • Participate in continuous training and educational opportunities to further develop mixology concepts.
  • Must be willing to take the company-paid course and become certified as a Stave & Thief Executive Bourbon Steward.
  • Serving tables, as needed.
  • Commitment to the Company’s ISO program including the quality and food safety of our products.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
