About The Position

Sushi by Scratch Restaurants is seeking an experienced and polished Bartender to manage all front-of-house service at their intimate 10-seat Sushi Bar. As the sole front-of-house team member, this role is crucial for delivering exceptional dining experiences. The Bartender will be responsible for sake pairings, Japanese whiskey pairings, and a la carte beverage service, ensuring guests receive a memorable omakase journey.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a bartender, sommelier, or fine dining waitstaff.
Knowledgeable of sake and Japanese whiskeys.
Passion for hospitality and the ability to provide thoughtful, accurate, and precise service.
Warm and professional communication and leadership skills.
Reliable, flexible team player willing to learn and adapt.
Open full-time availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays from 1 pm to close.
Possess the legal ability to work with alcohol, including valid state/locally required alcohol certifications.

Nice To Haves

Experience as a bartender, sommelier, or fine dining waitstaff in Japanese concepts.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary point of contact for guest needs during the omakase experience, coordinating with the Chef for efficient service.
Welcome guests, explain beverage options, take orders, prepare and serve beverages, execute beverage pairings, and provide continuous service touchpoints.
Assist Chefs with guest service needs.
Provide fine dining service with a focus on storytelling, product knowledge, genuine hospitality, and respect for craft.
Design and execute seasonal cocktail menus (including non-alcoholic options) and develop beverage pairings that reflect Japanese influence and comply with liquor laws.
Oversee daily bar setup, preparation, cleanliness, and closing procedures.
Manage and be responsible for guest payment collection with accuracy and gracious hospitality.
Interact with guests and team members professionally and warmly.
Host in the lounge when required by management.
