About The Position

The Bartender will be part of the Catering Department and will greet guests, answer questions regarding alcohol, recommend menu items, and prepare and serve beverages to our guests. It is the responsibility of the Bartenders to create drinks to order, utilize proper equipment and ingredients, and handle basic cleaning duties. Bartenders should be engaging, have a friendly personality and should be efficient, observant, knowledgeable and personable. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Requirements

  • Eye for detail and understanding of drink mixing tools and techniques.
  • Meets state minimum age to serve alcohol.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Knowledge of basic math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming guests, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.
  • Reviewing event details prior to event start time to ensure planning and product is in place and prepared for all needs as outlined on event orders.
  • Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to guests.
  • Checking identification to ensure guests are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
  • Participant in developing new cocktail recipes.
  • Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bars are well stocked.
  • Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.
  • Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
  • Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.
  • Ensures safe handling of food, alcohol and equipment.
  • Handles customer complaints, actively resolves internal problems wherever possible, and follows through with necessary actions and effective communications.
