About The Position

The Bartender is responsible for providing exceptional guest service by preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere in the hotel's bar and lounge. This role ensures responsible alcohol service, maintains cleanliness and organization of the bar area, assists with food service as needed, and supports overall food and beverage operations.

Requirements

  • Must possess or obtain required TABC certification prior to serving alcohol, where required by state law.
  • Must possess or obtain ServSafe Food Handler certification, if required by local or state regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of beverage preparation, food service, and responsible alcohol service.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations, accurately handle cash, and operate a point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, team members, and management.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequently bend, reach, stoop, and lift beverage cases, kegs, ice, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and fast-paced food and beverage environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous bartending, restaurant, hotel, or food and beverage experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of classic cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits.
  • Experience using hospitality POS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests in a friendly, professional manner and provide menus, beverage recommendations, and information about food and drink offerings.
  • Take beverage and food orders accurately and deliver prompt, attentive service.
  • Build positive guest relationships by providing exceptional hospitality and responding promptly to guest requests and concerns.
  • Verify guest identification and ensure compliance with all applicable alcohol service laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to company recipes, brand standards, and responsible serving practices.
  • Prepare garnishes and maintain an adequate supply of bar ingredients, mixers, and beverages throughout each shift.
  • Assist with preparation and service of food items offered in the lounge or bar area.
  • Monitor beverage quality and presentation to ensure consistency and guest satisfaction.
  • Set up and break down the bar before and after each shift.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of beverages, mixers, garnishes, and supplies, and notify management of inventory needs.
  • Assist with inventory counts before and after events or shifts to support cost control and reconciliation.
  • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately, process guest payments, prepare cash drops, and balance assigned cash banks.
  • Secure all cash, beverages, and bar equipment in accordance with company procedures at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bar, lounge, and work area throughout each shift.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
  • Rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices to maintain freshness and reduce waste.
  • Comply with all federal, state, local, and company policies regarding alcohol service, food safety, and workplace safety.
