About The Position
Wm. Mulherin’s Sons is a wood-fired Italian restaurant housed in a restored 19th-century whiskey blending and bottling facility in the heart of Fishtown. The space blends historic character with modern craftsmanship — original brick, timber beams, and industrial details paired with thoughtful design, intimate lighting, and a warm, lived-in feel. Known for its handmade pastas, seasonal plates, and wood-fired pizzas, Mulherin’s has become a neighborhood anchor and a destination for guests seeking elevated but unfussy dining. The experience is driven by genuine hospitality, a welcoming energy, and a team that takes pride in creating memorable moments for every guest who walks through the door. We’re looking for a hospitality-driven Bartender/Server who thrives in a fast-paced, design-forward environment and enjoys cross-training across both front-of-house roles. This position is ideal for someone who values teamwork, consistency, and creating memorable guest experiences — whether behind the bar or on the floor.
Requirements
- Previous bartending and/or serving experience in a high-volume or elevated dining environment
- Strong cocktail, wine, and spirits knowledge (or willingness to learn)
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and guest-engagement skills
- Ability to stay calm, organized, and upbeat during busy service
- A collaborative mindset and genuine passion for hospitality
- Must have weekend availability
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
Responsibilities
- Provide warm, attentive, and intuitive service that reflects the Mulherin’s guest experience
- Cross-train and work seamlessly as both a bartender and server depending on business needs
- Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages with accuracy and efficiency
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar and service station
- Guide guests through menu offerings, including wood-fired pizzas, handmade pastas, and seasonal dishes
- Collaborate with the FOH and BOH teams to ensure smooth service flow
- Uphold all safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service standards
- Support opening, closing, and shift-change procedures
- Contribute to a positive, professional, and inclusive team culture
