About The Position

The Restaurant Server / Bartender is responsible for greeting guests, taking orders, serving food and beverages, and checking on guests to ensure complete satisfaction. This role requires a high school diploma, one year of hotel food service experience, and knowledge of full-service, table-side service. The ideal candidate must be of legal age to serve alcohol, possess an active TABC Certification, and a Food Handlers Certification.

Requirements

  • Ability to prioritize, organize and follow up
  • Ability to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers with tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Able to work varied shifts, including Weekday Evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Knowledgeable of hotel facilities, the hotel area and services to assist guests as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service and/or drink service.
  • Becomes informed of daily/weekly specials and is able to explain all menu items and methods of cooking/preparation to the guest(s) as requested.
  • Relays orders to the kitchen and serves courses from the kitchen and service bars.
  • Serves menu items to guests in a prompt and courteous manner and according to established service standards; times the service of courses to correspond with the dining pace of the guests.
  • Completes a check back after the guest receives their meal.
  • Observes guests to respond to any additional requests and to determine when the meal has been completed.
  • Computes bills and accepts payments.
  • Clears and resets tables at the conclusion of each course and completely resets tables in a timely manner after guest(s) departs.
  • Completes all opening, running (during service time), and closing sidework assigned each shift.
  • Assists co-workers when needed throughout the shift.
  • Manages guest requests, inquiries, and complaints promptly and completely. Ensures follow-up with guests is performed in a timely manner to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction and quality service. In the event of dissatisfaction, negotiates compromise in accordance to the “Make it Right” established guidelines.
  • Follows proper Hotel safety policies and procedures and uses safety equipment as needed to ensure the safety of all team members during each shift. Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Ensures work area is clean and clear of standing water, debris or any objects that can obstruct the job duties from being performed safely, efficiently and effectively.
  • Performs any other job-related duties as assigned.
