About The Position

McMenamins Grand Lodge is hiring for a Bars Assistant Assistant Manager (AAM). McMenamins is a family-owned company in Oregon and Washington serving handcrafted beer, wine, cider, spirits, coffee, and pub fare. The primary responsibility of the Bars AAM is to assist in all bar operations under the guidance of the Bars Manager. This role involves working both indoors and seasonally outdoors, maintaining excellent customer relations, and potentially serving guests, taking orders, delivering products, collecting payment, and operating a point of sale system. The AAM is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and breaking down service areas, regulating labor, overseeing side work, cleaning, and training staff. Administrative duties, and effectively handling personnel and customer service issues are also part of the role. The AAM must be available to troubleshoot problems during shifts and report issues to management. This position can be physically demanding and requires the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, work independently, and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Obtain and maintain current food handlers and OLCC/WA liquor license.
  • Excellent knowledge of wine, ales and spirits is required.
  • Available to work a FT with a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous bartending experience is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in all bar operations under the guidance and direction of the Bars Manager.
  • Maintain and provide excellent customer relations with all customers.
  • Serve guests and tables in assigned sections by taking food and beverage orders.
  • Deliver products in a timely manner.
  • Collect payment and perform cashiering duties.
  • Work on a point of sale computer system.
  • Set-up, maintain, and breakdown service and work areas so that they are well stocked and organized for efficient and safe service.
  • Regulate labor and oversee side work.
  • Perform cleaning duties.
  • Train staff.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned by manager.
  • Effectively deal with personnel and customer service issues as they arise.
  • Provide appropriate service to the customer to meet their needs and requests whenever possible to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Help solve and troubleshoot any problems that come up during the course of a shift and report any issues to the Head Manager and District Manager.
