About The Position

The Barista position is responsible for preparing a variety of customer beverage orders, such as espresso drinks and coffee, to Starbucks standards. This role ensures all beverages are prepared to standard and delivered with quality every time. The Barista follows policies and procedures for operational flow at each station, adheres to established safety standards using safe food handling guidelines, and maintains a clean work area. Additionally, the Barista follows inventory stocking and recording guidelines, presents professionally, and demonstrates clear communication using Star Skills with all customer and partner interactions. The role also involves following cash handling and register procedures, adhering to Customer Service Standards with upgraded language, and following standards for merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing all products. Equipment maintenance is performed in accordance with preventative maintenance checklists, and the Barista understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Previous customer service experience
  • Complete training and obtain Barista certification with a score of 90%
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to learn and comply with cash register system and procedures
  • Ability to adjust to the needs of the department
  • Desire to achieve high customer service standards
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays
  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of people including employees, nursing staff, managers, and hospital staff

Responsibilities

  • Prepares a variety of customer beverage orders such as espresso drinks and coffee of the day to Starbucks standards.
  • Prepares all beverages to standard and hands out quality drinks every time.
  • Follows policies and procedures for operational flow at each station.
  • Follows established safety standards using safe food handling guidelines.
  • Maintains a clean work area and immediate surrounding area.
  • Follows inventory stocking and recording guidelines.
  • Presents oneself professionally and demonstrates clear communication by using Star Skills with all customer and partner interactions.
  • Follows cash handling and register procedures.
  • Follows Customer Service Standards by utilizing upgraded language such as, my pleasure, yes Ma’am/sir, genuine smile and eye contact.
  • Follows standards for merchandising, stocking, rotating and storing all products.
  • Performs equipment maintenance in accordance with preventative maintenance checklist.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center policy, procedures, training and Team Member involvement activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
