About The Position

The Barista provides superior customer service while maintaining a clean and attractive outlet for guests. The role involves greeting customers, preparing orders accurately and efficiently, processing payments, resolving guest concerns, maintaining product-preparation standards, and following cash-handling and accounting procedures. The position requires regular attendance and may include other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Basic mathematical skills for operating a cash register, making change, totaling guest checks and the bank, preparing cash drops, totaling other charges, and understanding portion sizes as they relate to pricing.
Ability to operate a keyboard and use Point of Sale procedures.
Ability to effectively handle and resolve conflict situations, such as an inaccurate check total.
Ability to sit and/or stand and work continually in confined spaces, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt communication style for different audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Responsibilities

Greet customers promptly with a friendly and sincere welcome; listen to and understand requests using a positive, clear speaking voice.
Prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently while maintaining high product-preparation standards.
Ring guest checks accurately and close them using the proper payment method, such as cash, credit card, or house charge.
Ensure guest satisfaction and tactfully negotiate resolutions when guests are dissatisfied.
Clean or sanitize work areas, utensils, equipment, service stations, and seating areas.
Follow accounting guidelines for receiving payments, verifying check totals, disbursing tips, and managing the cash drawer and house bank.
Balance the house bank at the end of the shift.
Retrieve the bank from the vault for the workstation and return it afterward, maintaining accountability.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
