Barista - Venice Coffeebar
About The Position
Intelligentsia Coffee is seeking passionate individuals to join their team as Baristas in Venice. This role is for those who want to be an “Intelli” and contribute to a company that pioneers the direct trade model in specialty coffee. The company is dedicated to creating long-term, collaborative relationships with coffee producers worldwide, paying a premium for exceptional beans. Baristas will undergo an extensive training program to become fully capable within 90 days, with opportunities for pay increases after certification. This position is eligible for tips, averaging an additional $7.00 - $10.00 per hour. Baristas in Los Angeles coffeebars are part of the IBEW Local 1220 union and are required to join after a probationary period. Intelli offers comprehensive training to enhance coffee knowledge and service skills, allowing employees to taste some of the world's best coffee. The company values work-life balance, with shifts averaging about 7 hours and coffeebars closing before late night. Intelli also prioritizes internal promotion and employee development.
Requirements
- Speak and read English proficiently
- Dependable with good attendance and punctuality
- Can effectively communicate with others
- Able to learn and master coffee tasting profiles and dial-ins
- Good teamwork skills
- Able to multi-task and work in a high-volume environment
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED is preferred
Responsibilities
- Operationally, adhere to policies, safety standards and protocols, and make suggestions for improving operations
- Prepare and serve beverages that adhere to our freshness and quality standards
- Maintain your coffee knowledge to educate and communicate with guests
- Engage with all guests in a hospitable, sincere and friendly manner.
